These are a couple of my favorite images from a recent trip to #Vietnam.  I tried to focus on the people more than typical tourist spots.  I discovered that it pays to get to know people on tours.  While on a tour near Sapa I met a Singaporean woman working as a volunteer at the #Sapa O’Chau Travel Social Enterprise school.  She invited to the school where I photographed the kids learning basic English.  Many will use this skill set to get jobs in the tourist industry.  The photos of the night procession were taken at Holy Rosary Church in Sapa.  Luck played a big role in this as I just happened across it while returning from a long day of shooting.  THe photo of the little Hmong boy was also a bit of luck.  I sometimes hold my camera at arms length, near my waist, and shoot on silent mode.  If lucky, I can get close enough with a wide angle lens to really capture a moment.  I think I succeeded in this case.  I think, at the end of the day, you simply need to spend as much time as possible taking pictures, interacting with people and be willing to put yourself out there.     DSC_0457Sapa Church 3Sapa Ochau 1Sapa Ochau 3 (2)Vietnam-2Vietnam-3Vietnam-4Vietnam-5Vietnam-6Vietnam-7Vietnam-8Vietnam-9
